Atos Origin awarded in York during varlink Reseller annual event for the project deployed on trainsin UK
Atos Origin, the number one supplier of portable ticketing solutions to the UK Rail industry, has recently added a new dimension to their product with the addition of Baracoda devices. As more customers move to internet purchases of rail tickets, there is a growing demand for bar-coded tickets to be printed by the consumers themselves or sent directly to mobile phone handsets. It is vital that any such electronic or mobile tickets are validated to prevent fraud or re-use.
Atos Origin has teamed its AVANTIX Mobile devices with the Baracoda Road Runner scanners on 2 high ? profile train routes in the UK and is looking to widen the deployment of such technology as soon as possible.
So far this year, Atos Origin has deployed around 120 devices to East Coast Railways and a further 25 Baracoda RR to Chiltern Railways. These devices pair seamlessly with the PDA ? using the Bluetooth linkage.
Tony Burgess, Retail Product Manager at Atos Origin, says ?I like the Baracoda device because it is ideally suited to the challenging environment of on ? train use. It?s very durable and simple to use but is also very light to carry ? important for staff who have to carry a number of devices with them for every minute of their working shifts.?

WES 2010 (Orlando): a successful event for Baracoda
Made of keynotes, conferences, demos and interviews with Blackberry Managers, WES 2010 has once again had a resounding success with its attendees.
Besides the discovery of the new version of BlackBerry OS 6 presented exclusively on the WES, the event was an opportunity for Baracoda to strengthen its presence and expand its network of partners in the Americas. Marek Kowalewski, Vice President of Sales, and Matthieu Delporte, Managing Director, have presented the full range of mobile solutions for automatic data capture compatible with BlackBerry Smartphones and returned to France with beautiful commercial projects and high technology collaborations.

Bluestar, Baracoda distributor in Spain and Portugal
BlueStar, the leading global innovator in solutions-based distribution for Auto ID, Point-of-Sale, Mobility, RFID and Security products, has signed a definitive purchase agreement with IDSYS, a distributor of specialty electronics covering Auto ID, Mobile Data Management, and Point-of-Sale verticals. Under the terms of the agreement, BlueStar will acquire all company interest in Spain and Portugal, thereby, merging operations on the Iberian Peninsula.
