Why Bluetooth

Concerning Bluetooth® Wireless Technology
Bluetooth wireless technology has been developed by the Bluetooth SIG consortium.
Bluetooth wireless technology allows transmissions up to 100 m depending on the power used, it is not limited to line-of-sight and uses very little energy.

Advantages of Bluetooth wireless technology

 Interoperability
Voice/data co-existence
Guarantee of data transmission by acknowledgement system
Robustness linked to frequency hopping technology and error correcting codes
Low energy consumption

Why use Bluetooth in our products
Universal Connector
One of the main advantages of Bluetooth technology is the fact that it is very standardized which guarantees a high level of interoperability. Two Bluetooth devices communicating together with the same "profile" will understand each other without prior configuration, even if the devices are of different makes.

Technological Robustness
When compared with 433MHz, or even WiFi type systems, Bluetooth is more robust.

Comparison with other wireless technologies (WiFi, 433MHz)
WiFi is not suitable for mobile use. The energy consumption required for WiFi devices is too high to be provided by a lightweight, portable battery. WiFi applications are very different to those of Bluetooth and are often complementary.

Upgradeability of wireless protocol
The Bluetooth standard is upgradeable, both in terms of applications and in terms of radio.
New developments concern mainly HID ("USB emulation" for keyboard and mouse) and the PAN (Personal Area Network) profile.
